& not because i didn't want to.
i was unaware that massachusetts did not allow you to register to vote the day OF voting. you must be registered to vote 20 days prior. i found this out late last week.....too late to get an absentee ballot....plus where i am registered (dane county) i have no proof of residency anymore.
ANYWAY.....voting is one of the few things i enjoy about being an american, so i was feeling very UNpatriotic yesterday. however, that all changed while watching TV late last night waiting for the results. i am not ashamed to admit that i am pretty much as left as you can get. i actually believe strongly in socialized democracy. i get upset that people see socialism as a threat & think we are going to go all communist. C'MON. but seriously, i don't care what political affliation you are....we all just witnessed something historic, and you should be proud that you are lucky enough to say someday that you saw it unfold. 8 years ago our country was in good shape.....today bush has a 25% approval rating -- the lowest ever....and i don't need to point out what is all crashing down around us. both men who were running for president were going to be given a broken country and would have been scruntinized by the oppposing party for doing a bad job regardless. let's look past that & realize what just happened. we are getting CHANGE. even if you think obama is full of shit....realize that we just (FINALLY) broke down race barriers. if that doesn't make you proud to be an american...then i don't know what will!
that's all i will say about THAT.
again.....i have been busy (typical). halloween was a lot more low-key than i imagined. also, i just realized that i didn't upload any of the pictures....so that will have to wait. i am going to boston this weekend for "opening day" on friday (a big gathering of all the americorps programs in mass.) and then will spend the weekend hanging out.
time for family dinner......
peace/love,
ABBEY
